Junior Cybersecurity Engineer

 

Job Title: Junior Cybersecurity Engineer

Work Location: Downtown Core, Singapore

Job Type: 1 year contract, subject to renewal

 

About the Job

The Junior Cybersecurity Engineer supports the implementation and maintenance of the organization's cybersecurity infrastructure, working closely with senior personnel to identify vulnerabilities, mitigate risks, and ensure compliance. Strong cybersecurity knowledge, problem-solving skills, and a passion for learning are essential.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the implementation and maintenance of cybersecurity measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, antivirus software, and encryption protocols.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration tests to identify security weaknesses and recommend remediation strategies.
  • Monitor security logs and alerts for suspicious activity, investigate incidents, and respond to security breaches in a timely manner.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of security policies, procedures, and standards to ensure compliance with industry regulations and best practices.
  • Collaborate with IT and development teams to integrate security controls into systems and applications throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Stay current on emerging cybersecurity threats, trends, and technologies, and recommend proactive measures to mitigate risks.
  • Assist in the documentation of cybersecurity policies, procedures, and incident response plans, and participate in security awareness training for employees.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to end-users on cybersecurity-related issues and best practices.
  • Participate in cybersecurity audits, assessments, and compliance reviews, and assist in addressing findings and recommendations.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of cybersecurity processes, tools, and technologies through research and experimentation.
  • Any other ancillary tasks or works as and when requested and assigned by the Company.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 1-2 years of experience in cybersecurity or a related field, including experience with security technologies and tools.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST, ISO/IEC 27001, or CIS Controls.
  • Knowledge of networking concepts, protocols, and security practices.
  • Understanding of common cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and attack vectors.
  • Experience with security assessment tools and techniques, such as vulnerability scanners and penetration testing tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) are a plus.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
