Assistant Manager, Overseas Entrepreneurship Programme (South East Asia)

A research-intensive public university, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU Singapore) has 33,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students in the Engineering, Business, Science, Medicine, Humanities, Arts, & Social Sciences, and Graduate colleges. Sitting within NTU, NTU Entrepreneurship Academy (NTUpreneur) provides entrepreneurship education within the University and the region.

The Asst. Manager, Overseas Entrepreneurship Programme (OEP) will manage and implement the operations of the global placement in NTUpreneur's Undergraduate's OEP. The responsibilities include engaging the overseas internship placement consultants; maintaining oversight of programme for compliance, quality, management and reporting purposes; facilitate to support the development of new startup partners in South East Asia to offer internship opportunities; support collaboration with key government agencies like Enterprise Singapore and EDB to promote collaboration and coordinate OEP outreach in conjunction with other undergraduate offerings in NTUpreneur to schools in NTU.

The incumbent will facilitate to ensure students receive a comprehensive and holistic entrepreneurship education by closely collaborating with the Undergraduate for Minor in Entrepreneurship and Second Major in Entrepreneurship programmes and Outreach teams.

1. Implement and manage the global placement operations of the OEP including oversight of global OEP representatives

2. Execute marketing and OEP Alumni Engagement Initatives
  • Oversee the production of OEP's marketing collaterals and execute strategies to encourage students' participation and ensure materials present a consistent message of OEP as part of NTUpreneur's Undergraduate programme.
  • Strengthen the network with past and present OEP participants. Plan and coordinate outreach events, student workshops and OEP Alumni activities in conjunction with the MiE/SMiE (Minor in Entrepreneurship and Second Major in Entrepreneurship) team as part of NTUpreneur student engagement
  • Collaborate with the outreach and MiE/SMiE teams in marketing and alumni engagement initiatives
  • Engage various colleges and schools in NTU to increase awareness of OEP, MiE, and SMiE.


3. Contribute the planning and the execution of OEP to ensure a holistic and comprehensive entrepreneurship education
  • Ensure that OEP is part of a holistic and comprehensive entrepreneurship education where students also enrol for the MiE or SMiE and co-curricular activities.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with the leads of MiE/ SMiE and outreach to achieve NTUpreneur's entrepreneurship educational mission.


4. Provide support to maintain good relations and effective partnerships with stakeholders and government institutions
  • Provide support to maintain good relations between NTUpreneur's OEP and key government funding agencies
  • Facilitate to develop partnership with government agencies to engage startup ecosystems overseas.
  • Support the collation of reports for OEP team when needed by government ministries and statutory boards.


Job Requirements
  • A Bachelor degree in any discipline
  • Knowledge in a SEA language will be advantageous as the individual is required to work and communicate with the regional stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of the education approach to entrepreneurship is essential
  • Good understanding of the startup ecosystem and overseas startup landscape
  • Good understanding of the startup founder's mindset, the startup journey in its scale and operations and the capability gaps in scaling up
  • Experience in Institutes of Higher Education or its equivalent
  • Experience in working in or with startups, VCs, accelerators or incubators, and experience in dealing with government agencies, foreign trade missions and embassies
  • Good command of written and spoken English for communication with overseas stakeholders
  • Good communication skills and ability to engage senior company management
  • Highly driven and willingness to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to collaborate with other teams in NTUpreneur to ensure a holistic and comprehensive entrepreneurship education
  • Willingness to provide mentorship and guidance and enjoy working with young audience
